I Found Energy Work When My World Was Spinning Out of Control
Energy medicine entered my life when my world felt like it was starting to spin out of control. Over the past few years, that path has become about more than a practice. It has become about finding my voice—and letting myself use it.
Energy medicine entered my life when my world felt like it was starting to spin out of control.
That is the part you cannot see in a list of certifications.
You see Healing Energy Studio, the sessions, the courses, the person talking about Reiki. Behind all of that is a woman who was trying to find her footing in her own life.
I am still that woman. I have more tools now, and I am learning to trust myself in ways I didn't before. But I am not telling this story from the other side of some perfect finish line.
I'm telling it while it is still unfolding.
What began as support became something more
Over the past few years, energy medicine, energy healing, and spirituality have become meaningful parts of how I relate to myself and my life.
They have given me practices to return to and space to ask questions I might once have hurried past. What am I feeling? What do I need? Which choices are actually mine to make?
The circumstances around me have not always been within my control. My relationship with myself is something I can keep tending.
That is where sovereignty has become personal for me.
It means having a say in how I live. It means listening to myself, taking responsibility for my choices, and deciding how much authority other people's opinions get to have over those choices.
Including the choice to tell my story.
The question that kept me quiet
There are parts of my story I have hesitated to share because I was afraid of what people would say or think.
What will they assume about me?
It is a small question with a surprisingly large reach. It can shape what you say, what you leave out, and how much of yourself you allow people to meet.
I am learning that I can choose privacy without carrying shame. I can also choose to speak without needing everyone to understand or approve.
That is part of the freedom I am beginning to feel.
I'm learning to be unbothered. And yes, “learning” is doing some heavy lifting in that sentence.
I still care. I still have feelings. I still want to consider how my words affect people. But I am becoming less willing to let the possibility of being judged make every decision for me.
There is room for honesty and accountability
I want to share what I have lived and what I am learning. That includes looking honestly at my own choices, allowing for things I understand differently now, and remembering that other people have their own experiences.
Some details will stay private. I can tell you what something taught me without telling every part of someone else's story.
I can also acknowledge the hard chapters without making them the only thing you know about me.
You will hear more about how I found energy work, how my spiritual life has grown, and how I am learning to live with a stronger sense of my own voice. Each piece will have something to offer on its own. You won't have to wait for a dramatic reveal to find something useful here.
For now, this is where I want to begin: I am allowing myself to be seen while I am still becoming.
If you recognize yourself in this, consider one question: Where might you be making yourself smaller because you are afraid of what someone will think?
You don't have to share the answer publicly. Just notice it.
