Do Animals Respond to Reiki?

People often wonder whether animals actually respond to Reiki or if energy healing is something that only works for humans.

Interestingly, many Reiki practitioners find that animals are often even more receptive to energy healing than people are.

Animals live much more in the present moment than humans do. They are not analyzing what is happening or questioning whether something should work. Because of this, they tend to respond very naturally to calming energy.

During Reiki sessions, animals often show clear signs that they are relaxing. Some may lie down, stretch out, or close their eyes. Others may move closer to the practitioner or settle into a comfortable resting position.

Sometimes animals will move away briefly and then return when they are ready to receive more energy. This natural response allows the animal to remain in control of how much energy they receive.

Pet owners frequently report noticing changes in their animals after Reiki sessions. Dogs and cats may appear calmer, sleep more deeply, or show improvements in mood and behavior. Animals recovering from illness or surgery sometimes seem more comfortable and relaxed as well.
